08 Dez Naked x Reebok Instapump Fury – For the Rich & Famous
I was born in 1982. Ok I know what you probably think now: Oh that’s a long, long time ago (ehh you are an old girl)! Some of my distant childhood memories echo bad haircuts, giant shoulder pads and women in luxury dresses. I’m a TV kid and I grew up with my mother watching TV series like „Knight Rider“, „The Six Million Dollar Man“ and – of course – the bigger-than-life-soap-opera „Dynasty“ (german title: „Der Denver-Clan“). From our Danish friends all sneakergirls can now travel back in time and style thanks to Naked’s new collab with Reebok Classics.
It’s a pretty sick project, continuing their successful black-and-white Classic Leather „Drip“ – but with a twist. Although the colour scheme of the „Dynasty Pack“ resembles the pattern of their Classic Leather release, the two Instapump Furys move towards the extraordinary with an eye for details. The plush black bouclé upper and the shiny patent leather on the heel are the perfect dress for this exceptional, often misunderstood silhouette that belongs to my favourites (just check my last blogpost). And to me it’s a direct connection to the elegant wardrobe of Krystle Carrington, Dynasty’s first lady. But you can’t think of Krystle without Alexis, Blake’s down-and-dirty ex-wife played by diva Joan Collins. One of her dresses could be the obvious inspiration behind the second Pump Fury and its fur-like pattern. What I escpecially love about that pair is the icy outsole in a very light apricot.
Both shoes are executed in a very premium way (I expected nothing else). The white leather is really soft and the black pair stands out thanks to the amazing bouclé upper, which is the antidote to all mediocrity in today’s sneaker game. I’m quite sure that Naked will continue to surprise us with new projects and collabs in 2016. In the meantime me and my feet will enjoy this twins of glamorous danish dynamite.
